I just changed host families yesterday and it went so well. My new family is so sweet and caring and I can't wait to enjoy my last few months here with them. I live with the mother, Miriam, the father, Adilson, and their 11 year old son, Thiago. They are a very relaxed family full of love. They currently have a son on exchange in Fort Lauderdale, FL and he's loving it! It'll definitely be hard to say goodbye at the airport with them.
It's crazy to think that yesterday was my last family swap, the next time I pack my bags I'm going home. Time is flying here, it feels like I just arrived, but somehow I've already gone through 3 families and am on my fourth! Everything happens so fast.
Each family I have been with has taught me a lesson, whether it was good or bad, I've become a better person through it. It makes me realize that I need to be more attentive to every situation, that its not always the "bad" or the "good" but that it's always for the better. It's all on you to learn from it, and in the end you realize you grew from it.
When you change families, it's not only a different room, but it's a different lifestyle, culture, family, and lesson. All you can do is be open to the challenge and be ready for change.
In the meantime, I've been unpacking my bags and have realized I have obtained WAY too many things during my exchange. Anyone here wear a size L?
I tried personalizing my new room this morning. The balloons are from my first night here in Brazil, compliments of my first host family. I'm so happy I kept them, they bring back so many memories from my first few days here.
